Ukraine Orthodox Church of Canberra Fr Michael Solomko says Orthodox Christmas is a time of “peace and goodwill amongst men” which shouldn’t be supplied for simply “one day”.

His feedback come after Russian President Vladimir Putin’s latest name for a Christmas ceasefire with Ukraine.

“We will be celebrating the birth of our Saviour regardless of what Russia is doing to us,” Fr Solomko instructed Sky News Australia.

He stated President Zelensky’s response to the Christmas truce provide is comprehensible as Ukraine have to be “on guard”.

“From the signing of the Budapest agreement, Russia has continual lies and deceit.”
