Ukraine has claimed it destroyed a Russian long-range supersonic bomber in a drone strike.

The Ukrainian navy claimed it destroyed the TU-22M3 strategic bomber on the Soltsy airbase in Novgorod Oblast, northwestern Russia, about 650km from the border with Ukraine.

Social media photographs confirmed the plane engulfed in a fierce hearth on the navy base.

The Russian defence ministry stated in a press release a aircraft was broken throughout a drone assault.
