Turner was born Anna Mae Bullock on November 26 in 1939 in Brownsville, Tennessee, the youngest daughter to mom Zelma and father Floyd.
When Turner was 11, her mom left the household fleeing home abuse, and Turner was despatched to dwell together with her grandmother, solely reuniting together with her mom later in life.
As a teen, she immersed herself within the rhythm and blues scene in St Louis, Missouri, the place she met Ike Turner and commenced performing along with his band.
