The Piper PA 28 crashed whereas on method to Republic Airport in Farmingdale at about 3pm US time (7am AEDT), in line with the Federal Aviation Administration.
It was not instantly identified how many individuals had been on board or if there have been any accidents or fatalities, officers mentioned.
The airport is about 32 kilometres east of New York City.
Suffolk County Police mentioned they closed a neighborhood street due to the crash.
