MOSCOW — Vladimir Putin has gained Russia’s presidential election with 87.97% of the vote, in response to the primary official outcomes confirmed on Sunday after polls closed.
Putin, 71 and in energy for greater than 20 years, now has one other six-year time period in workplace.
In response to the outcomes, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy mentioned Putin needed to rule without end and that Russia’s presidential election was an illegitimate imitation.
Zelenskiy mentioned in his nightly video handle that “the Russian dictator is simulating another election,” and that Putin was “sick for power and is doing everything to rule forever.”
“There is no legitimacy in this imitation of elections and there cannot be. This person should be on trial in The Hague. That’s what we have to ensure,” he added.
The White House, in the meantime, mentioned the elections have been “obviously not free nor fair” as Putin had imprisoned his opponents and prevented others from operating in opposition to him. — Reuters
