Peru doctors save toddler who swallowed eight medical needles

LIMA – Doctors in northeastern Peru saved the lifetime of a 2-year-old boy who had swallowed eight injection needles whereas enjoying.

“It was once we were in the operating room and we opened up his abdomen that we found those metal pieces, (and realized) they were really needles,” Dr. Efrain Salazar mentioned.

Local media reported that the needles have been used to vaccinate livestock the place the boy’s mom works.

The boy, whose identify was not revealed, lives within the agricultural space of Taratopo, some 622 kilometers (386 miles) from capital Lima.

“Maybe he swallowed them when he was there playing,” the boy’s mom mentioned.

The boy’s life was not in danger following surgical procedure, native media added. —Reuters
