The new child was taken to Christchurch Hospital after an 18-year-old man allegedly jumped on the girl and her child as they lay in a tent at Scarborough Park in Sumner about 8pm on Saturday.

Christchurch imam Gamal Fouda, who was there, mentioned the person made racist feedback to the household after the incident, together with “go back to your country”, and informed them they “can’t even speak English”.
