Search efforts for the 18-year-old Louisiana highschool graduate Cameron Robbins have ended, the US Coast Guard confirmed, citing the Bahamian navy.
Cameron was on a senior journey, celebrating his commencement from a Baton Rouge highschool, when he went over the aspect of a sundown cruise final week.
The new video, which 9news.com.au has not been in a position to independently confirm, seems to point out Cameron instantly after he jumped into darkish waters, splashing round.
In seconds, to the dismay and shock of onlookers, he disappears from view.
“This kid f—–g jumped off!” one individual onboard mentioned.
“Grab the buoy,” one other witness yells, whereas somebody screams about “the current”.
The news outlet mentioned Cameron had jumped off as a part of a dare.
The Royal Bahamas Defence Force, which had been looking for him, instructed the US Coast Guard it was suspending energetic search efforts on Friday (native time).
The coast guard had helped with the search, it mentioned.
Cameron was described as a “fierce competitor” by his highschool baseball coach, Justin Morgan, who mentioned the teenager was each a 3rd baseman and pitcher on the crew.
The faculty group has been struggling since listening to news of Cameron’s disappearance, Morgan mentioned.
“Our thoughts and prayers have been and will remain with Cameron’s family during this time,” he mentioned.
