Greta Thunberg fined in court

A Swedish courtroom has fined environmental activist Greta Thunberg after discovering her responsible of disobeying legislation enforcement, a Malmö City Court spokesperson instructed CNN Monday.

Thunberg was charged with “the crime of disobedience to law and order” earlier this month after collaborating in a protest on June 19 which blocked oil tankers in a part of Malmö harbour.

Prosecutors mentioned the protest brought on site visitors disruption in Malmö. Greta was charged for failing to depart the scene when requested to by the police.

The courtroom imposed a wonderful of roughly $214, within the type of 30 day by day fines of fifty Swedish krona ($7.12), in response to the Malmö City Court spokesperson.

Thunberg pleaded not responsible to the costs, arguing she acted out of “necessity” within the context of a local weather emergency, the spokesperson mentioned.

Irma Kjellström, spokesperson for activist group Ta Tillbaka Framtiden, which organised the June protest, mentioned Thunberg was one among many younger folks blocking oil tankers.

“After having blocked the industry which is burning our future, we have now been charged with crime. While charges are being brought against us, the real crime continues inside the gates that we blocked,” she instructed CNN earlier this month.

In January, Thunberg was detained by police throughout a protest within the village of Lützerath, Germany, over the enlargement of a coal mine. She was launched later the identical day.
