Frantic search for man who fell from cruise ship off Florida coast

The US Coast Guard says it is trying to find a person who fell from a cruise ship off the coast of Florida.

The 35-year-old passenger, recognized in news experiences as Ronnie Peale Jr., fell from the Carnival Magic ship about 300 kilometres east of Jacksonville on Monday, the service stated in an announcement. The Coast Guard is looking from the air and water.

The Coast Guard stated it had spent practically 20 hours looking greater than 10,000 sq. kilometres by Tuesday afternoon. The search by air was scheduled to pause at sundown, whereas ships would proceed searching for the person by Tuesday night time.

Peale’s companion reported him lacking late Monday afternoon, the assertion stated.

Security footage on the ship exhibits {that a} man “leaned over the railing of his stateroom balcony and dropped into the water” round 4am, in accordance with the assertion.

Carnival stated the Coast Guard launched the ship from search efforts and advised the captain to move again to port in Norfolk, Virginia.

The ship can maintain practically 4000 friends and is about 300 metres lengthy.
