Explosions had been heard in a central neighborhood of Ukraine’s capital Kyiv on Wednesday, mayor Vitali Klitschko mentioned, following what seems to have been a drone assault.
For weeks Russia has pummeled Ukraine’s power infrastructure with missiles and drones, plunging hundreds of thousands into chilly and darkness in winter.
“Explosions in the Shevchenkivsky district of the capital. (Emergency) services are on their way,” Klitschko mentioned on social media on Wednesday morning.
He added that air protection had shot down 10 “Shahed drones” over Kyiv and the close by area, referring to Iranian-made kamikaze drones that Moscow has been accused of deploying in opposition to Ukraine targets.
Drone particles broken two administrative buildings within the Shevchenkivsky district, the capital’s navy administration mentioned.
There was no fast report of casualties. —Agence France-Presse
