BEIJING – China’s navy mentioned on Thursday it monitored and drove away a US destroyer that had illegally entered waters across the Paracel Islands within the South China Sea.
In an announcement, the navy mentioned with out the approval of the federal government, the guided-missile destroyer Milius illegally intruded into China’s territorial waters, undermining peace and stability within the busy waterway.
“The theater forces will maintain a high state of alert at all times and take all necessary measures to resolutely safeguard national sovereignty and security and peace and stability in the South China Sea,” mentioned Tian Junli, a spokesman for China’s Southern Theatre Command.
Tension between the United States and China has been rising within the space.
