China has carried out main army drills off the coast of Taiwan in response to what they declare was a provocation from the self-ruled island and the US.
The strike drills concerned 71 plane and 7 navy vessels as they have been detected close to Taiwan over the previous 24 hours.
47 of these plane had crossed the medium line of the Taiwan Strait; some entered Taiwan’s southwest air defence identification zone, an space that isn’t formally Taiwanese territory.
