Australia is in a agriculture ‘trade deficit’ with the EU

National Farmers’ Federation Chief Executive Tony Mahar says Australia is in a “trade deficit” with the European Union when it comes to agriculture.

“Think about the amount of dairy products that come into Australia and reciprocally the amount of dairy product that we ship to the EU,” he instructed Sky News Australia.

“Now it’s about 300 times in their favour, so it’s not like Australian producers are going to flood the EU market any time soon.

“The reality is we’re in a trade deficit with the EU when it comes to agriculture.”
