Former prime minister Paul Keating says the AUKUS nuclear-powered submarines deal is in regards to the upkeep of “US strategic hegemony in Asia”.
“This is a country which has no land in the metropolitan zone of Asia,” Mr Keating stated.
“But they claim to be and wish to be the primary strategic power in Asia.
“What are the Chinese to say to that?”
