DUBAI — An assault on a Shi’ite Muslim shrine in Iran’s central metropolis of Shiraz killed at the least 4 individuals on Sunday, state media reported, including that one individual had been arrested.
No group instantly claimed accountability for the assault on the Shah Cheragh shrine, which state news company IRNA stated had been carried out by terrorists. Islamic State final October stated it had launched an assault on the shrine during which 15 individuals had been killed.
The semi-official Tasnim news company stated at the least seven individuals had been wounded and outlets within the space had been closed. State TV stated the shrine space had been cordoned off by safety forces.
Islamic State has claimed earlier assaults in Iran, together with the lethal twin bombings in 2017 that focused Iran’s parliament and the tomb of the Islamic Republic’s founder, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. — Reuters
