KYIV — Three individuals have been killed on Sunday and 10 have been wounded when Russian forces attacked a ship carrying evacuees from flooded occupied territory to the Ukrainian-controlled metropolis of Kherson, the regional governor stated.
The space has been suffering from catastrophic flooding after the destruction of the Nova Kakhovka dam which Kyiv and Moscow have accused different of intentionally blowing up.
“Three civilians died, ten more [people] were wounded, including two law enforcement officers,” stated Kherson area’s governor, Oleksandr Prokudin.
In an announcement on Telegram messenger, he stated a 74-year-old man used his physique to defend a girl from Russian hearth and was hit within the again and died.
Prokudin’s assertion didn’t clarify how Russian forces attacked the boat.
The incident was first reported by President Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s chief of employees Andriy Yermak who stated the boat had been carrying evacuees from flooded areas of occupied territory to town of Kherson.
“The Russian army attacked a boat with civilians evacuating from the left bank of Kherson region,” Yermak wrote on the Telegram messenger.
Reuters was unable to right away confirm the assault.
