Australians will quickly see a contemporary face on their cash after the Royal Australian Mint unveiled the effigy of King Charles III.

The first coin to characteristic the King’s effigy would be the $1 coin and it will likely be in circulation by Christmas.

Designed by the Royal Mint in London, the effigy is formally authorised by the royal household.

As is custom, King Charles III might be going through to the left – the alternative to his mom.

Royal Australian Mint chief govt Leigh Gordon stated employees on the Mint had been working for a number of months to develop the coin.

“As Australia’s circulating coin manufacturer, we appreciate the importance of the transition, and we are applying our considerable skill and expertise producing Australia’s coins bearing the new royal effigy,” Mr Gordon stated.

“These coins will circulate by the millions across Australia for many years.”

Coins that includes the effigy of the late Queen Elizabeth II will proceed to stay in circulation, whereas different coin denominations that includes King Charles might be minted from 2024.
