The Wuhan Open is again on the ladies’s tennis schedule for the primary time since 2019 after organisers introduced it will likely be staged within the Chinese metropolis in October, Xinhua News Agency reviews.
The 1000 event has not featured on the WTA Tour since COVID-19 was found within the metropolis, which turned the situation of the primary lockdown of the pandemic in January 2020.
Wuhan, dwelling to former Australian Open and French Open champion Li Na, noticed the game’s reputation surge within the final 20 years. Australian Open finalist Zheng Qinwen had additionally relocated there as a toddler for coaching.
“We are delighted to announce the return of the WTA 1000 event to Wuhan, and reignite the thrill of elite tennis competition in one of Asia’s most vibrant cities,” Jorge Salkeld, Senior Vice President of organisers Octagon Tennis was reported as saying by Xinhua news company.
The event will likely be held from October 7 to 13 on the Optics Valley International Tennis Center in Wuhan.
