Protesters disrupt US Open women’s semi-final

Protesters have halted play on the US Open girls’s semi-final with American Coco Gauff main Czech Karolina Muchova.

With Gauff up a set and holding serve to open the second, a disturbance erupted within the higher bowl of Arthur Ashe Stadium as shouting started, disrupting play.

It was unclear what the protest was about however ESPN reported it concerned local weather activists.

Photographs of the scene confirmed three protesters carrying shirts with the slogan, “End Fossil Fuels”.

As gamers seemed into the stands, safety flooded into the part across the disturbance.

Television protection confirmed greater than a dozen regulation enforcement officers within the part.

Players left the court docket and waited for play to renew.
