Potapova stuns top-seeded Jabeur in San Diego Open

Anastasia Potapova’s pleased behavior of overcoming higher-ranked opponents goes on, after the world No.27 shocked high seed Ons Jabeur 6-4 7-6 (7-4) to advance to the quarter-finals on the WTA Tour’s San Diego Open.

The win marks the fourth time this 12 months Potapova has crushed a participant ranked within the high 10.

“It was my patience, just to stay focused as much as I could because Ons is very tough to play,” the 22-year-old Russian stated.

American wild playing cards Sofa Kenin and Katie Volynets confronted off, with Kenin recovering from a shaky begin to win 1-6 6-4 6-2, whereas one other US participant, Danielle Collins, was a 2-6 6-3 6-4 winner over Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko.
