Fourth seed Elena Rybakina has pulled out of the French Open forward of her third-round match in opposition to Sara Sorribes Tormo as a result of a viral sickness.
The Wimbledon champion mentioned she had been unwell for the previous two days.
“I was not feeling good yesterday and the day before so I didn’t sleep two nights and had some fever,” Rybakina instructed a news convention.
“Today I really tried during the warm-up but I feel that the right decision is to withdraw because it’s really tough to play in this condition.
“I noticed the physician, and so they mentioned that really it is all a virus right here in Paris. I suppose with my allergy, my immune system simply went down and I picked up one thing.”
Kazakhstan’s Rybakina was among the many title favourites alongside title holder Iga Swiatek and Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka after successful the Rome title within the build-up to the claycourt grand slam.
