World No.5 Stefanos Tsitsipas has continued his domination of Australian star Alex de Minaur with a 6-3 6-4 win within the Los Cabos Open ultimate.
Heading into the Mexican showdown with a 0-9 head-to-head report towards Tsitsipas, de Minaur barely received heat towards the top-seeded Greek.
Making his first look in Los Cabos, Tsitsipas transformed 4 of 9 break factors to say the title in 86 minutes.
De Minaur momentarily threatened a comeback within the second set after the world No.19 and match fifth seed saved three factors to go down a double break at 3-2.
But any hope of sending the match right into a deciding set was dashed when Tsitsipas produced one other essential break for a 5-4 lead en path to his tenth profession title.
“I will take the positives out of this week,” Tsitsipas instructed reporters.
“I had a few good matches here and I think it’s a good start to the (American hardcourt) swing.
“We’ve skilled quite a lot of good tennis this week from quite a lot of good gamers.
“The competition was high, and I’m happy to walk away with the trophy.”
In notching his first hardcourt crown because the Marseille indoors nearly three years in the past, Tsitsipas will leapfrog Casper Ruud to No. 4 within the newest ATP rankings when they’re launched on Monday.
De Minaur, in the meantime, has managed to win only one set in his previous eight conferences with the 24-year-old Tsitsipas.
