Andy Murray has been dominated out of the Great Britain crew for subsequent week’s Davis Cup finals in Malaga.
The 36-year-old former Wimbledon and US Open champion is sidelined attributable to a minor shoulder damage with Britain set to play quarter-final opponents Serbia on Wednesday.
“I’ve picked up a minor shoulder injury which means I won’t be able to take part in the Davis Cup,” Murray stated on X on Saturday.
“I’m gutted not to be part of the squad, but my focus is now on rehab and getting ready for the new season.”
Murray’s absence is a second setback for the British crew after Dan Evans withdrew earlier this month due to a calf muscle damage.
Liam Broady has been known as as much as exchange Murray, with Joe Salisbury changing Evans.
Captain Leon Smith now has a crew that includes Cameron Norrie, Jack Draper, Neal Skupski, Broady and Salisbury.
Britain’s conflict with Serbia is the final of the quarter-finals, with Canada dealing with Finland, the Czech Republic assembly Australia and Italy taking up the Netherlands.
