‘We don’t need motivation’: Ange on Cup bid

Celtic supervisor Ange Postecoglou says his aspect’s uncommon weekend blemish was a very good “learning” expertise forward of Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final towards Rangers at Hampden Park.

The Hoops have been held to a 1-1 draw by Motherwell. It was simply the third time this season that Postecoglou’s males had dropped factors within the battle for the Scottish Premiership title.

Despite the draw, Celtic nonetheless improved its lead on the high of the ladder to 13 factors after second-placed Rangers misplaced 2-0 to Aberdeen.

With 5 rounds remaining, the Hoops may wrap up their second successive title of their subsequent premiership match – a May 7 date with Hearts in Edinburgh.

“It’s always a challenge at Tynecastle … so it will be a good place to go and win it because we’re going have to earn it to do it,” Postecoglou advised Celtic TV.

“It’s pleasing that we’re in this position. It’s the position you want to be in where winning the title is in your hands.

‘It’s a credit to the players and the staff and a testament to their consistency, performance and obviously results that we find ourselves with five games to go needing just a win.’

“I’m really pleased with that, but we haven’t done the job yet and there’s no reason to dismiss any of these games.

“Moving forward we want to make sure we finish the season strong.”

And that additionally contains Scottish Cup success. A win over Rangers on Sunday would earn Celtic a spot within the ultimate towards the winner of this weekend’s different semi-final between Falkirk and Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

“It’s a cup semi-final and it’s going to a be real good game with everything on it in terms of both teams knowing the consequences of not being successful on the day,” Postecoglou mentioned.

“At this time of the year they are all big games and they are games you would rather be involved in rather than sitting at home watching them.

“We don’t need motivation – the motivation is always there.

“We were disappointed with the (draw with Motherwell), both in performance and obviously in the result, but there’s a learning moment there for us.

“We’ve been pretty good at learning along the way while winning games of football, which is not easy, because it’s easy to let things just roll along … so when we didn’t do things as well as we wanted to (against Motherwell), it’s a chance for us to improve that, within the context, though, of understanding that the group has been outstanding for a very long time.”
