Chelsea supervisor Emma Hayes has dismissed fears that Matildas star Sam Kerr suffered a significant leg damage within the Blues’ 7-0 English Women’s Super League win over Everton.
Having scored early, Kerr was changed within the thirty second minute after succumbing to what appeared to be an ankle damage.
With the FIFA Women’s World Cup solely 10 weeks away, it was not the sight Matildas followers needed to see.
However, Hayes didn’t appear too involved after the match.
“She’s fine,” Hayes instructed the Chelsea web site.
“She wasn’t feeling very well last night. (She was) a bit dehydrated, cramped up a little bit in her calf, but we decided not to take any risks.”
The day earlier than the sport, Kerr led the Australian delegation as flag bearer for King Charles III’s Coronation at Westminster Abbey.
“She thoroughly enjoyed it. She said she was really nervous walking behind the King and the Queen,” Hayes stated.
“It’s not something you do every day, and it’s a proud moment for her family, Australia, and of course for all of us.
“What an honour for her.”
