Police target ‘disgraceful’ pitch invaders

Police have warned they are going to be “knocking on a few doors” imminently as they ramp up their investigations right into a wild pitch invasion throughout an A-League Derby match.

Wild scenes captured a whole bunch of spectators storming AAMI Park area on Saturday night time as Melbourne Victory and Melbourne FC took to the sphere within the first half of the A-League match.

Some allegedly deployed flares.

Melbourne City goalkeeper Tom Glover and referee Alex King had been injured after allegedly being struck with a metallic bucket stuffed with sand, in what Victoria Police have referred to as a “disgraceful” show.

A cameraman was allegedly struck at the back of a head with a flare, leading to contusion and burnt clothes.

Police have launched photos of males they want to communicate to, with a spokesman saying they can help with investigations.

“What we saw last night from those who chose to invade the pitch was shocking, disgraceful and lacked total respect for the game of football,” Acting Superintendent Jason Goddard mentioned on Sunday.

Superintendent Goddard was scathing in his evaluation of the “disgusting” behaviour.

While no arrests have been made, he warned police had quite a lot of energetic and ongoing inquiries to make after seeing imaginative and prescient of the incidents and the boys allegedly concerned.

Superintendent Goddard warned costs may quickly be laid.

“Detectives from our Northwest Metro Regional Crime Squad are working hard and I have no doubt we’ll be knocking on a few doors soon,” he mentioned.

“I’m a lover of the game and I actually feel sad about what I saw play out on the pitch last night.”

Police and hundreds of supporters have condemned the behaviour on what has been referred to as footballs ‘night of shame’.

The match was deserted because the followers took to the sphere in a bid to “protect the integrity of the match”, Football Australia mentioned.

In an announcement, they mentioned such behaviour has “no place” in Australian soccer.

They promised “strong sanctions” towards these alleged to have been concerned.
