Philippine Women’s Football Team names 23-player lineup for FIFA Women’s World Cup

The Philippine ladies’s nationwide soccer workforce, the Filipinas, launched on Sunday its 23-player lineup for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup to be held in Australia and New Zealand.

The roster consists of goalkeepers Kiara Fontanilla, Kaiya Jota, and Olivia McDaniel, defenders Alicia Barker, Angela Beard, Reina Bonta, Malea Cesar, Jessika Cowart, Sofia Harrison, Hali Long, and Dominique Randle.

Midfielders will probably be composed of Tahnai Annis, Ryley Bugay, Anicka Castañeda, Sara Eggesvik, Quinley Quezada, and Jaclyn Sawicki, whereas the forwards will probably be Sarina Bolden, Isabella Flanigan, Carleigh Frilles, Katrina Guillou, Chandler McDaniel, and Meryll Serrano.

Inna Palacios, Maya Alcantara, Isabella Pasion are a part of the reserves.

“We congratulate the 23 players who were selected for the Philippines in the FIFA Women’s World Cup and express our gratitude to the players who have committed and sacrificed to make themselves available throughout the selection process,” Philippine Football Federation president Mariano “Nonong” Araneta stated in a press release.

“We wish our team all the best as they head to New Zealand for the final days of their preparation, before the FIFA Women’s World Cup,” stated PFF normal secretary Atty. Edwin Gastanes.

The Filipinas will kick off their marketing campaign on July 21 after they face Switzerland. They can even face host nation New Zealand and Norway within the group stage video games.
