Melbourne City prodigy Jordan Bos was urged to place minutes earlier than cash in making the choice to begin his European membership profession within the Belgian Pro League.
As reported on Monday by News Corp Australia, Bos will go away City on the finish of the A-League membership’s finals marketing campaign to affix KVC Westerlo for a switch payment price near $2 million.
It’s a document payment for the switch of an A-League participant, surpassing the $1.4 million Manchester City paid Melbourne City for Aaron Mooy in 2006.
Other provides from greater golf equipment have been put ahead to the 20-year-old left-back and his representatives, however Bos feels Westerlo will present the best launching pad for what he hopes might be a prolonged profession in Europe.
“Don’t look at the pay cheque, just look at your availability and how you’ll fit into that team, because if you go somewhere too big, you might get lost there,” Bos mentioned in revealing recommendation which had been given to him by skilled teammates.
“The Belgian league is a great stepping stone for me. It gets me over there and it gets me involved in the European leagues, so it’ll be great for my career and hopefully it can take off a lot more from there.
“It suits my playing style. It’s a lot faster and it should be a good challenge.
“I’m usually pretty good with pressure and coping with it, so over there hopefully I can do the same thing.”
Bos, a product of City’s academy, was grateful for “everything” the Melbourne membership had given him.
“They’ve been great to me. The culture here is just amazing,” he mentioned.
“I’m happy I’ve been a part of them for as long as I have, and given back to them as much as I can.”
City soccer director Michael Petrillo mentioned Bos – who debuted for the Socceroos in March – had “natural abilities” which have been “evident from the outset”.
“It has been a privilege to see him grow into the elite player he is today,’’ Petrillo said.
Before Bos leaves for Belgium, he wants to win the A-League title with City, who host Sydney FC on Friday night at AAMI Park in the second leg of a semi-final currently locked at 1-1 after last week’s first leg.
“Winning the premiership and championship double would be an amazing way to end my time here for now, and go on to my next journey,” he mentioned.
“The boys are still confident. We’re on our home turf this game. We’ll give it our all and hopefully also in the grand final in a couple of weeks.”
