Young opener Ryan Hackney scored his maiden first-class century as NSW set South Australia a testing run-chase on the ultimate day of their Sheffield Shield match at Karen Rolton Oval.

NSW batted for one more half hour firstly of the morning session on Friday earlier than declaring at 3-247, leaving South Australia requiring 386 from 87 overs for victory.

At lunch, South Australia had been 2-55 from 20 overs with Daniel Drew (20no) and Nathan McSweeney (17no) on the crease.

NSW resumed at 2-203 and reached 3-247 earlier than captain Moises Henriques declared.

Jason Sangha reached 29 not out with Henriques unbeaten on 16.
