Yeng Guiao says new import proved him wrong; Smith happy to be with Rain or Shine

Making his debut for Rain or Shine, Greg Smith posted 38 factors, six rebounds, and 5 assists to propel the Elastopainters to their first win at Blackwater’s expense.

But head coach Yeng Guiao mentioned he himself didn’t anticipate the depth of their import’s efficiency this early.

“To be honest, I was kind of worried because he came from a long flight and hasn’t been really competing since the last few months,” mentioned Guiao within the post-game convention. “I know he’s not in 100% shape. I guess he just proved me wrong and he played his heart out. I wasn’t really expecting him to score that heavily tonight.”

“Just trying to help out the team in different ways but that’s really a big bonus for us that he can score, create for others, and play defense.”

After being down 0-4 to start out their marketing campaign within the Governors’ Cup, Guiao mentioned the staff has made a dedication for the final remaining video games.

“We’re happy. Di na namin masyado alam yung pakiramdam ng manalo eh, matagal na (We’re happy. We don’t really remember what it feels to win, it’s been so long),” Guiao mentioned in jest.

“Nag-0-4 kami, but we told ourselves, we agreed that we will recommit ourselves this last seven games, now six games, there’s still a chance. As long as we can make the playoffs, as long as you’re there, still able to play, maybe something can happen.”

Smith mentioned he’s simply completely happy to be with the staff after lacking the peak requirement the final time he was purported to be an import.

“It means so much. I was so disappointed last time when I didn’t meet the height requirement and this is somehow where I really want to be,” Smith mentioned.

“At that time, they were just coming off a win in the previous conference. This is the team that wants to win. I know that when I was here the last time,” he added.

“I wanted to do my best to try and help the team as much.”

Smith got here in as a substitute for Michael Qualls.
