The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas stated the granting of Philippine citizenship for Barangay Ginebra San Miguel import Justin Brownlee is a welcome growth for the Philippine nationwide males’s basketball crew.
In an announcement on Friday, SBP president Al Panlilio stated Brownlee’s naturalization got here simply in time for Gilas Pilipinas’ subsequent match.
“It is with much gratitude that the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, led by our Chairman Emeritus Manny V. Pangilinan, welcomes the naturalization of Justin Brownlee in time for the sixth window of the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers next month,” Panlilio stated.
“The SBP wishes to thank profoundly the President for signing into law Republic Act 11739. We also are grateful to the Senate, through Sen. Francis Tolentino, chairman of the Committee on Justice and Human Rights, and the House of Representatives, through Rep. Juliet Marie de Leon Ferrer, chairman of the Committee on Justice, for their invaluable support in passing the legislative act.”
Tolentino on Thursday stated President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has signed Republic Act 11937 which grants Philippine citizenship to Brownlee.
With this, Brownlee could also be a part of the Gilas lineup which is able to play the sixth window of the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers in February on the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.
