NCAA alums Scottie Thompson, Rhenz Abando, CJ Perez included in Gilas 12

National Collegiate Athletic Association alumni Scottie Thompson, Rhenz Abando, and CJ Perez have been included within the remaining 12-man crew of Gilas Pilipinas for the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

The three standouts will be part of Jordan Clarkson, Kai Sotto, June Mar Fajardo, Japeth Aguilar, Dwight Ramos, AJ Edu, Jamie Malonzo, RR Pogoy, and Kiefer Ravena because the nationwide crew vies for the Naismith Trophy.

Thompson, who was NCAA MVP again in 2014, performed for the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA. In 2012, he was named because the league’s Most Improved Player and was included within the legendary crew in 2012, 2014, and 2015.

In the PBA, Thompson is a seven-time PBA champion with Barangay Ginebra and can also be the reigning PBA MVP.

CJ Perez, the NCAA MVP and legendary crew member in 2017, performed for the Lyceum of the Philippines University. He is a one-time champion within the PBA for the San Miguel Beermen.

Rhenz Abando, however, is the NCAA MVP for Season 97 and was a part of the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights which received the championship that season. He can also be a champion within the Korean Basketball League with the Anyang KGC.

Thompson, Perez, Abando, and the remainder of the Gilas squad will open their marketing campaign within the World Cup on Friday in opposition to Dominican Republic on the Philippine Arena, adopted by Angola on Sunday, and Italy on the twenty ninth.
