Letran's Kyle Tolentino suspended; Pao Javillonar required to issue apology, undergo community service

The National Collegiate Athletic Association on Friday introduced its sanctions on the incidents involving Colegio de San Juan de Letran gamers Kyle Tolentino and Pao Javillonar throughout Game 1 of the NCAA Season 98 Finals on December 4.

In an announcement, the league mentioned Tolentino will likely be issued a one-game suspension after it was discovered that he was occupying the touchdown spot of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde’s Migs Oczon, which resulted in an harm. The suspension will likely be served in Game 2 of the Finals on Sunday.

 

 

Regarding Javillonar’s actions in opposition to Will Gozum, the NCAA mentioned “upon review and thorough consideration of the official video of the game and testimonies from the referees and Commissioner, it showed that Javillonar committed an unsportsmanlike behavior when he touched the private part of Gozum, in violation of applicable rules under the NCAA Manual of Operations on making provocative gestures; using foul gestures; and taunting, making fun of another player or person.”

With this, Javillonar “was strongly reprimanded for his unsportsmanlike conduct and warned that a repetition or commission of a similar offense will merit a stricter penalty.”

He may also be requested to situation an apology and render neighborhood service “as a rehabilitative measure.”

 

 

“Finally, Javillonar was directed to consistently observe the core values of the athletic association in promoting camaraderie, good values, and friendly athletic competition,” the league added.

Benilde’s Stephen Fernandez beforehand mentioned it is not going to file a proper criticism about Javillonar’s motion, however described it as ‘disrespectful.’
