The Sydney Kings have thrown their help behind Brazilian import Tim Soares after he determined to not put on the NBL’s Pride brand.
The star cited his spiritual beliefs for not taking to the court docket towards the Tasmanian JackJumpers with the emblem on his jersey.
It comes two nights after the complete Cairns Taipans group declined to put on it of their sport.
The 25-year-old is a religious Christian whose dad and mom work as missionaries in Sao Paulo.
The membership was knowledgeable of his needs in the course of the week and launched an announcement in help of their participant.
“Tim’s personal decision, which is in accordance with his beliefs, is one we respect, just as we do the players that participated,” the assertion learn.
“Individual gamers from all golf equipment have been invited to take part. It was not an obligation positioned upon gamers.
“The NBL has established the Pride Round initiative, together with the Australian Basketball Players‘ Association, which the Sydney Kings organisation fully support.”
The league invited all players and clubs to wear the logo but said they would not force players to use them.
Pride round was announced publicly by the league last week, with all arenas lighting up for the occasion.
