Kyrie Irving’s relationship with Nike is formally over, a month after the corporate suspended the Brooklyn guard as a part of the fallout over his tweeting a hyperlink to a movie containing anti-semitic materials.
It was not a shock breakup, particularly after Nike co-founder Phil Knight stated within the days after the corporate suspended Irving he had doubts there can be any reconciliation.
“Kyrie Irving is no longer a Nike athlete,” the corporate stated in an announcement on Monday.
Irving’s agent and stepmother, Shetellia Riley Irving, instructed The New York Times the perimeters “mutually decided to part ways and we just wish Nike all the best”.
Irving, with out mentioning Nike by title, appeared to handle the matter on his Twitter account on Monday afternoon.

Irving has been sporting his signature line of Nike in current video games. It’s unknown if the formal ending of his relationship with Nike will have an effect on that.
