Three weeks after signing for the Los Angeles Sparks, Australian ahead Stephanie Talbot will miss the upcoming WNBA season after getting damage in her homeland.
The Sparks mentioned on Monday that that they had discovered that Talbot suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament whereas enjoying for the Adelaide Lightning.
It is a merciless blow for Talbot, who three weeks in the past mentioned: “I am excited to sign with the Los Angeles Sparks for the next two years.
“I beloved their imaginative and prescient for each myself and the crew. I’m actually trying ahead to assembly my teammates and attending to work.”
Talbot was the WNBL’s MVP in 2020.
She only signed a two-year deal with the Sparks on February 1.
Last year she was 10th in the WNBA in 3-point shooting. She averaged 5.0 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 34 games for the Seattle Storm.
The 28-year-old forward has also played for Phoenix and Minnesota during her five seasons in the WNBA.
Sparks’ head coach Curt Miller was clearly delighted to have signed Talbot.
He said at the time: “Steph is a flexible wing with nice size and impacts each ends of the courtroom along with her vitality and energy.
“She is an outstanding perimeter shooter which will help us with floor spacing and offensive schemes.”
