Melbourne United have confirmed the signing of NBA and NBL championship-winning guard Ian Clark on a one-year deal.
Renowned for his taking pictures prowess, Clark spent the latter levels of final season with the Adelaide 36ers.
He had beforehand loved a profitable stint with the Sydney Kings, who the American veteran helped to the title in 2022.
Across 26 NBL video games, Clark has averaged 13.3 factors on higher than 40 per cent taking pictures from three-point vary.
Melbourne coach Dean Vickerman believes Clark, who performed a key function off the bench in Golden State’s 2017 NBA-title win, might help his staff at each ends of the ground.
The necessary signing comes as United look to bounce again from a seventh-place end final season, after they had a 15-13 report.
“We really wanted high-level shooting, a level of creation to make others better and really solid defence – which are all things Ian has showcased during his time in the NBL,” Vickerman stated.
“There’s a clutch component to his game where we’ve seen what he can do in the biggest moments of games.
“He’s a man that may simply get scorching. He’s received a streak in him that enables him to interrupt the sport open.”
Clark is likely to be Melbourne’s only import for the upcoming season, though Vickerman still has one roster spot left to fill.
The 32-year-old joins Chris Goulding, Matthew Dellavedova, Luke Travers, Lual Acuil Jr, Shea Ili, Flynn Cameron, Tanner Krebs, Kyle Bowen, Brad Newley and Next Star participant Ariel Hukporti on United’s roster.
