Dave Ildefonso says move to Korea will make him, Philippine basketball better

As Dave Ildefonso’s transfer to the Korean Basketball League was formalized on Sunday, the previous Ateneo de Manila University stalwart stated it was a transfer that won’t simply profit him, but additionally the native basketball group.

Ildefonso grew to become the newest Filipino import within the KBL as he joined the Suwon KT Sonicboom.

“I believe that my stint in Korea will not only benefit me but will give my family pride,” Ildefonso wrote in a publish on Monday.

“It will be great for both our national basketball program and our professional league for young guys like me to experience first-hand the basketball culture of other countries, and eventually share that knowledge back home,” he added.

 

 

“It will be great for basketball fans too, they can watch as we try to prove we can play with the best in our continent.”

The collegiate star shared that when the chance to play in Korea was opened, he felt overwhelmed and had a sense of ‘wholesome concern.’

“It is the kind of fear that, when you overcome it, will make you better & stronger.”

Ildefonso follows the likes of different former collegiate standouts Rhenz Abando, RJ Abarrientos, SJ Belangel, and Justin Gutang within the Korean league.
