Carl Tamayo relishes first championship as a pro in B.League

Carl Tamayo relished his latest and first ring in his skilled profession as his Japan staff Ryukyu Golden Kings gained the B.League 2022-23 championship.

Ryukyu defeated the Chiba Jets, 88-73, in Game 2 of the best-of-three finals on Sunday.

“[This is my] first ring, as a rookie, too, so I’m very happy with the experience,” the previous University of the Philippines standout mentioned in an interview posted by the league.

Tamayo additionally mentioned the staff deserved the championship.

“I’m very happy for my teammates, the team, the organization. We really worked hard for this. I think the team deserves it. I’m very happy [for] each one, part of the team,” mentioned the Filipino import.

 

 

 

 

With the championship available, Tamayo mentioned he needs to be a part of the staff’s journey for subsequent season.

“What I’m looking forward to next season, hopefully to get the championship again and be able to help the team.”

The former UP standout joined Ryukyu early this yr after his stint with the Fighting Maroons in UAAP Seasons 84 and 85. He was a part of the squad which ended the virtually four-decade title drought in May 2022.
