Aside from prime student-athletes, one of the best collegiate coaches will even be acknowledged within the upcoming Collegiate Press Corps Awards Night.
Colegio de San Juan de Letran’s Bonnie Tan, Ateneo de Manila University’s Tab Baldwin, and University of the Philippines’ Goldwin Monteverde can be acknowledged with Coach of the Year awards for steering their respective basketball groups to championships prior to now three seasons of their leagues.
Tan steered the Knights to 3 straight championships within the NCAA and had a 44-13 win-loss report to obtain the award offered by Robinsons Supermarket, Robinsons Appliances, and Handyman.
Baldwin, in the meantime, is the UAAP Coach of the Year for the 2019-20 and 2022-23 season as he led the Blue Eagles to a 16-0 marketing campaign in Season 82 and reclaimed the championship in Season 85.
Monteverde, alternatively, was the chief tactician of the squad in Season 84 which ended the Fighting Maroons’ practically four-decade title drought, making him the UAAP Coach of the Year for 2021-22.
Aside from coaches, Mythical Team alternatives together with the likes of Letran’s Rhenz Abando, Ateneo’s Ange Kouame and Thirdy Ravena, and UP’s Carl Tamayo will even be acknowledged within the awards evening.
This is the primary time that the Collegiate Press Corps will maintain its awards evening since 2019, with the awarding to be held at The Hummington Rooftop Bar in Quezon City on May 29. The occasion is offered by San Miguel Corporation, the Philippine Sports Commission, and is supported by MNL Kingpin, Tinapayan Festival.
