Ateneo falls to Japanese squad, moves to WUBS bronze medal match

The title-retention bid of Ateneo de Manila University within the World University Basketball Series ended on Saturday as they fell to Japanese squad Hakuoh University, 73-58, within the match’s semifinals on Saturday in Japan.

The third interval ended with the Blue Eagles trailing 43-40, however Hakuoh relied on a robust efficiency within the fourth interval as they outscored Ateneo, 30-18, to take the win.

The loss got here a day after the UAAP defending champs ripped the University of Sydney, 88-50, of their opening recreation.

The Katipunan-based squad will face Radford University of the United States within the battle for third place, whereas Hakuoh will go towards Chinese Taipei’s National Chengchi University within the finals.
