Fremantle defender Hayden Young has promised the group gained’t fall into the lure of once more focusing on former teammate Rory Lobb throughout this weekend’s conflict towards the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium.
The Dockers misplaced to the Bulldogs by 49 factors at Optus Stadium earlier within the season and seemed distracted as they tried to tough up Lobb each earlier than and in the course of the sport. Lobb kicked just one aim in the course of the evening, however the Bulldogs dominated the contested possessions which allowed them to regulate the competition.
Having fought again from a disappointing loss to Greater Western Sydney to report a confidence boosting win over Essendon on Saturday evening, Young mentioned they’d learnt their lesson from earlier within the 12 months and would deal with Lobb like another opponent.
“Last time we didn’t really speak about him too much in the preparation but we probably got a little bit off task when we went after him a bit,” Young mentioned.
“This week will just be preparation as per usual.”
The Dockers are one win behind the Bulldogs, who sit contained in the eight in seventh place.
Young mentioned the gamers would enter the match with a clearer understanding of what their greatest soccer seems to be like after spending final week reviewing each ingredient of their sport. He mentioned the loss to GWS had supplied some vital classes for the longer term.
“It comes down to focusing on what we did well this week and what we went away from against GWS,” Young mentioned.
“We spoke a lot last week about valuing the right things. We wanted to value our team D (defence) and our contest. Those things we did really well against Essendon. They’re things we’re going to keep valuing going forward and keep putting an emphasis on.
“We watched some pretty average footage against GWS. Our team D and our contest wasn’t our brand and that was a wake up call. Then we also watched some clips of when we do it really well, when we played earlier in the year and got on a run.
“That was on the back of playing really good, connected team D and being really strong in the contest.”
