Essendon have misplaced Sam Weideman to a toe damage in a late blow forward of their AFL conflict with Gold Coast.
Former Melbourne tall Weideman, who kicked two objectives on his Bombers debut within the round-one thumping of Hawthorn, was named within the preliminary squad for Sunday’s encounter at Marvel Stadium.
But he was a late withdrawal, changed by Massimo D’Ambrosio within the group with Matt Guelfi coming in because the Bombers’ substitute.
Essendon are already lacking main goal-kicker Peter Wright (shoulder) in assault and neglected Jake Stringer (hamstring) after his interrupted build-up.
Gold Coast have regained speedster Lachie Weller after 10 months out with a knee damage and Malcolm Rosas has been recalled.
