SA deserves time in AFL spotlight: Adelaide coach

Footy-mad South Australia deserves to bask within the AFL highlight for per week, Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks says.

And Nicks says his Crows need to take centre-stage and open the league’s inaugural ‘collect spherical’ with a uncommon prime-time, stand-alone fixture.

Adelaide and surrounds will host all 9 AFL video games from subsequent Thursday to Sunday in a league experiment.

The Crows kick off proceedings with a conflict towards unbeaten Carlton on Thursday evening at an already sold-out Adelaide Oval.

“We love our footy, so the state deserves this opportunity,” Nicks mentioned after Adelaide’s 39-point victory towards Fremantle on Saturday.

“We have embraced it (gather round), as have other states – there’s a lot of people coming in.

“So will probably be a unbelievable week which we kick off Thursday evening in a recreation now that we really feel we need to go in and have a crack at a number of the greatest.

“It’s going to be a massive challenge but we will go in and give our best and have a real crack at them.”

The Crows will host the Blues after banking spectacular consecutive wins – downing the Dockers per week after sinking arch rival Port Adelaide by 31 factors.

“Our guys are playing some really connected footy,” Nicks mentioned.

“They’re confident in what they’re doing but we have got to stick to that.

“And will probably be challenged Thursday evening, we go up towards the most effective they usually (Carlton) are undefeated – I do know our guys will likely be trying ahead to it.”
