Damien Hardwick is refreshed after a European trip because the triple premiership coach prepares to be confirmed as Gold Coast’s new supremo.
The 51-year-old has arrived again in Australia and can attend the ultimate recreation of Trent Cotchin and Jack Riewoldt, two of Richmond’s stars throughout their premiership period.
But simply days after Saturday’s MCG farewell, Hardwick shall be introduced because the Suns’ new coach in a transfer that would remodel the perennial underachievers.
When requested if he was feeling refreshed after quitting the Tigers in May, Hardwick replied “absolutely”.
“I’m looking forward to a possible new challenge,” Hardwick instructed the Seven Network on Friday night time.
“I’ve got some things to work through and we’ll make a decision pretty soon.”
Hardwick confirmed he met with Gold Coast president Bob East and chief government Mark Evans after the pair flew to Italy to talk with him.
“It was great to catch up with Mark and Bob over in Milan,” he stated.
“I’ve got a bit to think about over the weekend, and when I know, you’ll know.”
Hardwick coached Richmond for nearly 14 seasons, taking the Tigers to their first premiership in 37 years once they received the 2017 grand ultimate.
Richmond had additional success in 2019 and 2020, cementing Hardwick as probably the greatest coaches of the fashionable period.
The Suns are the AFL’s final problem, having did not play finals since they got here into the competitors in 2011.
