Melbourne captain Max Gawn has suffered a hamstring damage at an AFL pre-season coaching session.
The Demons’ 2021 premiership skipper could have weekend scans to find out the extent of his damage after being compelled out of coaching on Friday.
“Max unfortunately had some hamstring awareness towards the end of this morning’s training session,” Melbourne’s common supervisor of AFL efficiency Alan Richardson mentioned in a press release.
“He will be closely monitored and assessed over the weekend. We’re hopeful we will have some further clarity early next week.”
Melbourne’s premiership season begins on March 18 however any prolonged lay-off for Gawn, a six-time All Australian, can be partially offset by the recruitment of former Collingwood ruckman Brodie Grundy late final 12 months.
Meanwhile, St Kilda have formally signed ex-Carlton utility Liam Stocker, who was delisted by the Blues on the finish of final season.
Stocker had been coaching with the Saints, who’ve signed 22-year-old Stocker as a pre-season supplemental choice.
