Massive injury blow for Roos defender

North Melbourne have been dealt a large blow within the wake of Sunday’s smashing by Geelong after scans confirmed defender Griffin Logue ruptured his ACL in opposition to the Cats.

Logue, in his first season with the Kangaroos after crossing from Fremantle, left the sphere midway via the primary quarter and was subbed out of the sport after what appeared an innocuous incident.

But scans confirmed the worst doable news and Logue is now dealing with as much as 12 months on the sidelines.

“We understood Griff had suffered a significant knee injury and unfortunately, scans today confirmed an ACL rupture to his left knee,” North Melbourne‘s general manager of football Todd Viney said.

“Despite knowing his injury was serious, Griff continued to support his teammates throughout the game yesterday. The way he went about it is a testament to the professional he is.

“Everyone at the club will be there to support him as he begins the first steps of his rehab.”

Logue, 25, made his North debut in Round 1 this season and has missed just a single game as a key pillar in his team’s defence.

The Kangaroos, who will quickly get coach Alastair Clarkson again after his self-imposed break, have gained simply two of 16 video games this season and took a 66-point hammering from Geelong on Sunday.
