Lions veteran to ‘learn’ from ban

Brisbane Lions veteran Dayne Zorko says he’ll “live with the consequences” of his one-match ban for placing his hand within the face of Adelaide’s Luke Peddler.

The former Lion skipper went to the tribunal final week within the hope of getting the suspension overturned.

However, he failed, that means he’ll miss Brisbane’s battle with Hawthorn on the MCG on Saturday

“I’m pretty disappointed with the outcome,” Zorko informed SENQ’s Pat and Healsshow.

“I thought we had a pretty strong case at the tribunal, but unfortunately, for whatever circumstances, we weren’t able to get the job done.

“You live and you learn, and I’ll be having this week off as well.

“If you’re going to put your hand anywhere near an opponent’s face, you’ve probably got to live with the consequences.”

The Lions, who had a weekend bye, are in fourth spot on the ladder with eight wins from 11 matches.

“As a whole, the club’s in a really good position injury-wise, the VFL’s team sitting on top of the ladder, we’re at the bye (with an) eight and three record after starting off (with) one (win) and two (loses), so the club (was) in a good spot before we headed into the bye,” Zorko mentioned.

“(The bye) probably came at the right time. There are players with little niggles that you can carry from week to week, so it’s nice to just to be able to have that week off, get that required treatment that you need and then kick off the second half of the year with a bang.

“The boys will be certainly looking to do that this weekend.”
