“So there were a couple of little warning signs but I didn’t feel too bad and then by Monday arvo I was falling off the cliff a little bit and some really hard shakes and my body temperature was really up but I was really cold. Fever style stuff. It was the worst I’ve ever felt.

“I did get a tiny bit worried for a second. I called the doctor on the way home from the footy club.

“Simmo (coach Adam Simpson) asked me how I was feeling in the meeting … I said ‘Mate, I’m a one out of 10’.

“All the doctors sent me straight to the hospital and I spent the next two nights on the IV.”
